"This is not anti-sex": Founder of "No Sex Gay Weekend" meetup group explains his POV
Queerty's follow-up to its August story is a profile built on a conversation with Chris, and the first coverage where the facts came from him directly. It takes the two objections the viral post raised, that the format is repressive and that gay men already have book clubs and sports leagues, and gives Chris room to answer both. His answer to the second is that those groups form around a shared interest, and No Sex Gay Weekend forms around wanting to meet people and make friends.
“It's called "No Sex Gay Weekend." Not "No Sex Gay Life."”
“This is not a conversion camp. This is not anti-sex.”
“When you don't have that common interest, it is kind of hard.”
“I think a lot of people come away from the weekend feeling good about themselves, because they've let other people give them a chance at actually connecting.”
