A group called "Gay No Sex Weekend" goes viral & the reactions are supercharged
Queerty's first piece on No Sex Gay Weekend came out of a post on X that went viral, and most of it is a roundup of the replies, many of them jokes about sneaking off. By the end it turns supportive: the writer, who calls himself sex-positive, compares the idea to joining a gay flag football league to meet people outside a sexual frame. Chris appears through the project's introductory video rather than an interview.
“The gay world can be hyper-sexualized. What we're trying to do here is create an environment where we can form meaningful connections with each other, without all of the stuff that normally goes along with it.”
“We hope that people come away with friendships, maybe more, and a great day together.”
“While I consider myself a sex-positive person, I understand the sentiment.”
“It's just not the only thing that people are looking for.”
