Oxford 2025

Oxford, UK · August 2025

The pilot: 24 guys, a tour, a picnic, a game of Traitors, and punting, where people got stuck under a bush.

The pilot

The first No Sex Gay Weekend was a pilot, and it was put together at short notice. Oxford hotels were expensive in August, so Chris kept it simple: one full day on the Saturday, with an optional Sunday for a smaller, mostly local group. Guests booked their own travel and paid for their own food and drink; the activities were covered. Both days sold out, and a waitlist opened.

Chris arrived the evening before, partly because the city is beautiful and partly because the trains weren't working. He stayed in a college.

"Gonna go and stay in a college which rejected me. Just paying for the privilege these days."

Saturday

On the Saturday, 24 guys met for coffee. Outside the Radcliffe Camera, Chris recorded a short video explaining what they were there to do.

"The gay world can be hypersexualised, and what we're trying to do here is create an environment where we can form meaningful connections with each other without all the stuff that normally goes along with it."

Then the day ran more or less as planned. A tour of Oxford, which Chris described afterwards as "funny and interesting at the same time", with a stop at a pub along the way. A picnic in the park, and a game of Traitors. The murderers won.

In the afternoon the group went punting on the Cherwell. In Chris's words: "Funny, people got stuck under a bush." In the evening there was dinner and a jazz bar.

Sunday

The Sunday was for the smaller group who stayed on. They went for a countryside walk, had a pub roast, and did more exploring.

Billy, one of the guests, filmed the weekend. His footage is the film on our homepage.

Afterwards

A week later, Chris posted his review. "It was so good. People really took to it." He opened Valencia and Bath on the strength of it.

"Loads of friendships were made. I don't know if people fancied each other, maybe they did. Maybe there'll be some weddings coming up."

What people said

"I was not fully sure what to expect from the Oxford meet. It was a pilot to a new concept, but it was a genuinely fun and relaxing set up. Everyone gelled quickly and we all got into the spirit of it."

Wai Ming

"Really good meeting you all, chatting, connecting, and laughing off the social awkwardness. Really enjoyed it and would love to keep in touch."

A guest

"I attended the Oxford event first, unsure and a bit scared. But I had such a brilliant time. Everyone was so welcoming and no detail was missed. It was so good I immediately booked the Bath weekend too."

Paul W

"It was a fantastic weekend, pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it. Thank you to literally every person here, just an incredibly friendly great bunch of gays."
