Where to play gay football in London

Every group named here was checked on 10 September 2026. Training nights and fees change, so if something is out of date, tell us.

Search "gay football London" and you get one five-a-side night, usually stale. For 2026/27 there are ten clubs feeding two leagues that publish their tables. Sundays belong to the London Unity League, Saturdays to the GFSN's national divisions, and most clubs run a weeknight training session you can try first.

Stonewall FC

Established in February 1991, and the one for proper 11-a-side: four competitive men's sides and two women and non-binary sides, playing most weekends. The men's first XI is in the Middlesex County Premier Division, which the club says is the highest level any openly LGBT+ club currently plays at in England. Two Unity sides are in the London Unity League, the women and non-binary XI in the London Women's Saturday Football League Div 2 North.

Training is split by level: Monday for women and non-binary players at West Ham Memorial Ground, E13 0HQ; Wednesday intermediate and advanced at Bobby Moore Academy; Thursday men's 5-a-side beginners at Powerleague Battersea. First session free, £8 after, annual membership to play regularly. Over-18s only. Form at stonewallfc.com/join-us; a manager gets back to you.

Leftfooters FC

The mixed-ability end of the list, and winners of the 2026 Football v Homophobia Grassroots Award. Three sessions a week: Sundays 2pm to 4pm at Castlehaven Community Park in Camden, 5-a-side and walking football, pub after at the Black Cap; Wednesdays 7pm to 9pm at Powerleague Shepherd's Bush; Fridays 7pm to 9pm at Sobell Leisure Centre. The first kickabout was 21 November 1999, after a pub meet at the Black Cap, and the club co-founded the GFSN league in 2002. For 2026/27 they are in GFSN Division Two and the Development League. Message them on Instagram or Facebook, or email info@leftfooters.org.uk.

Charlton Invicta FC

Started as Bexley Invicta on 15 January 2011, then rebranded and affiliated to Charlton Athletic Community Trust on 24 August 2017, the first LGBTQI+ friendly team attached to a professional club's trust. Training is Tuesday nights, 8.30pm to 10pm, at the Charlton training ground, Sparrows Lane, New Eltham, SE9 2EL. Four teams this season: Charlton Valiants and Charlton Addicks in London Unity League Divisions 1 and 2, Charlton Invicta in GFSN Division One, and a development side in the GFSN Development League. Email Information@cactinvictafc.com first and someone will look out for you.

London Titans FC

Formed in 2005, and the club with the most teams here: six. Two in London Unity League Division 2 (Titans Two Brewers, Titans LGBT Hero), two in GFSN Division Two (Titans Turner, Titans Wheeler), one in the Southern Sunday Football League, and a development side. Training is Mondays, 7pm to 9pm, on a 3G pitch in South West London. Form at londontitans.com/join-us, or email membership@londontitans.com.

London Freedom FC

The newest club, formed by a group of friends in 2023, already in GFSN Division One and London Unity League Division 2. Training is Tuesdays, 7pm to 9pm, September to June, at Ark Burlington Danes Academy, Wood Lane, W12 0HU. The site says come along to a session; questions to londonfreedomfc@gmail.com.

Soho FC

Formed in October 2013. Three entries for 2026/27: Soho FC in London Unity League Division 1, Soho Tigers in Division 2, and Soho FC in GFSN Division Two. Their site publishes no training schedule, so the Tuesday night quoted elsewhere dates from 2024 and wants checking. Use the form at sohofc.com/contact-us or message @soho_fc on Instagram.

Millwall Romans

Formed as the London Romans in 2006 in north London, then taken in by Millwall Community Trust and moved south of the river. Three entries this season: Millwall Romans and Millwall Pride in London Unity League Division 1, Millwall Romans Pride in GFSN Division Two. No published training night, so email info@millwallromansfc.co.uk and ask.

East End Phoenix FC

The east London club, entered in London Unity League Division 1 and in both GFSN Division Two and the Development League for 2026/27. Their website was unreachable when this guide was checked, so no session times or founding year here. Their Linktree gives hello@eastendphoenix.co.uk and Instagram @eastendphoenix_fc.

Goal Diggers FC

Women, non-binary and gender non-conforming players only, trans inclusive, and non-ability based: teams are picked on availability, not ability. Founded 2015. Membership runs in six-month blocks (January to June, July to December) with tiered pricing and bursary spots, covering weekly training at Haggerston Park plus leagues and socials. The waitlist is oversubscribed, so GDFC has to be your main club, with priority spots for people of colour, non-binary and GNC people, and trans women. For over-35s there are separate sessions at Arsenal Hub, N7 7BA, on Saturdays: 26 September, 3 and 17 October, 14 and 28 November 2026. Waitlist at goaldiggersfootballclub.com/join-us, or email membership@goaldiggersfootballclub.com.

Hackney Women's FC

Founded in 1986, which the club's history page calls the first openly gay football team in Europe. That makes it five years older than Stonewall and 37 years older than London Freedom. Three teams: a First Team and Reserves playing 11-a-side in tiers 6 and 7 from a home ground at Walthamstow, and a Beginners team playing 5-a-side on Tuesdays in Forest Gate and 7-a-side on Saturdays in Islington. Everyone trains Thursday evenings. Women and non-binary players. Sign up via the form on hackneywfc.co.uk/contact or email secretary.hwfc@gmail.com.

Picking a Sunday, or a Saturday

Two leagues, two days. The London Unity League is 11-a-side on Sundays, 14 teams in two divisions for 2026/27, first fixtures on Sunday 20 September 2026, tables at londonunityleague.com. Seven of the clubs above have a side in it, so any Sunday from late September puts two of them on the same pitch.

The GFSN league is national: founded 2002 by a network dating to 1989, over 25 clubs across the UK and Ireland, two 11-a-side divisions plus a Development League, Cup and Shield. Division One kicks off Saturday 26 September 2026, with Charlton Invicta and London Freedom the London entries. A Saturday fixture is as likely to be in Bristol as at home.

Never played? Leftfooters on a Sunday afternoon, Stonewall's Thursday beginners night, or the Goal Diggers waitlist. Otherwise pick the training night nearest you and email first.
